A concert lasts one evening, and its photos sell the next ones: posters, announcements, press, the venue’s and the artist’s social media. So I don’t shoot a concert as a box-ticking report but as material you will actually work with.
I have photographed live music in many formats — club stages, show programmes, bands and classical performances. Here is what I shoot and what you get.
Stage lighting changes every second: backlight, haze, coloured beams. I work without flash and catch the moments when the light shapes the artist instead of blowing them out.
A wide shot of the stage shows the scale of the show — both the venue and the promoter need that frame.
A face, a gesture, the emotion at the peak of a song — the shots an artist later puts on posters and social media. They take the right spot and a feel for the moment before it happens.
I get the setlist in advance and agree which songs to shoot from the pit and when to move into the crowd.
A full house, raised hands, confetti in the spotlights — this sells the next concert better than any text. The organiser needs these shots as much as portraits of the artists.
I photograph the audience from the stage, from the balcony and from inside the crowd to show both the scale and the real emotion.
Hands on the keys, a guitar neck, drumsticks in motion — details give the series rhythm, and bands need them for promotion.
Every musician gets their own shots, not just the frontman.
A classical concert has different rules: silence, a formal hall, light designed for the audience’s eyes. I agree on shooting positions and on the moments when I can work with the venue in advance.
I photograph the conductor, the soloists and the ensemble without the photographer being noticed by either the audience or the musicians.

The price depends on the length, the venue and stage access, so I quote for each concert.
