— two hours when you look at each other again —

A couple photoshoot as couples therapy

← blog

Work, chores, kids, phones – you are close, yet look at each other less and less. And a couple photoshoot sounds like an odd idea: “we can’t pose”, “we’re not twenty any more”, “why without a reason?”.

During the shoot you switch everything else off for an hour or two and just spend time together. I tell you where to stand and what to do, and then the hugs, laughter and kisses become real.

It is not real therapy, of course. But couples often say the same thing afterwards: “we haven’t hugged like that in a long time”. Below is why it happens and how to get the most out of the shoot.

Not about poses, but about the two of you

A good couple shoot is not a catalogue of poses. I give a simple action: hug, walk a bit, whisper something to each other. Then you react to each other, not to the camera.

So you do not need to know how to pose. You only need to come together and want to spend time with each other.

The first minutes feel awkward – that’s normal

For the first ten to fifteen minutes almost every couple is stiff. I start with a walk and simple shots while you get used to the camera and to me.

Then comes the moment when you forget you are being photographed. That is where the best shots begin.

Forgotten feelings come back

When you look at each other for a long time, hold hands and hug without hurrying, what hides in everyday life comes back: tenderness, being in love, the feeling of being a team.

Couples say they feel closer afterwards – like after a good date they have not had in a long time.

Hugs and kisses for no reason

In everyday life we hug in passing – at the door, before sleep. During the shoot a hug gets time: a minute, two, while I look for the frame.

That minute is enough for the hug to become real rather than routine. It shows in the photos and on your faces.

Laughter is the best sign

If you laugh during the shoot, it has worked. I give silly tasks, you fool around, and the picture catches who you really are with each other.

These shots usually become the favourites, even if they are not the “prettiest” by the rules.

It works at home too

The shoot does not have to be by the sea or in a park. A morning coffee in the kitchen, a blanket, your favourite sofa – couples relax fastest at home.

These photos tell the story of your ordinary life, and that is exactly what you want to remember years later.

Photos that remind you

In a year, in ten years, you will open the album and remember not only how you looked but what you felt that day.

A good photo works like an anchor: in a hard week it reminds you why you are together.

No reason needed

An anniversary, an engagement, a move, a pregnancy, a new baby – all good reasons. But the most common honest answer is: “we haven’t done anything just the two of us in ages”.

That is a reason too. Sometimes the best one.

Common questions about couple photoshoots

We can’t pose – will it still work?

Yes. I guide the posing as we go, and most shots come from simple things: a walk, a hug, a conversation.

Do we need a reason for a couple photoshoot?

No. An anniversary or an engagement is a good reason, but “we haven’t spent time just the two of us in a while” is enough too.

Where is the best place to shoot?

Wherever you feel good: at home, in a park, by the sea. A place that means something to you always shows in the photos.

How long does it take and what does it cost?

Usually one hour, two if you want more ideas and locations. 3,000 SEK per hour including VAT.
